🏀 Athletes Don't Give Up. Here's Why -

🤔 Sometimes, we wonder what makes athletes so strong? Mentally strong, I mean. Where they don't give up, refuse to back down, and keep going, even when injured, even when facing a tough situation.

What are some factors that affect this mindset!

🧠 Let's have a look!

✅1. Their Goal is Bigger than Themself - It's not about them (not always) it's about the team, their state, the country, the community. And that's bigger than just their own personal achievement. What some athletes are trying to do is to inspire others and be a change for other people

✅ 2. Empathy - Athletes are good at reading people, and sports teaches you about sportsman spirit. Athletes are also considerate to their opponents. We see athletes across countries, making friends with each other, taking pictures together, and exchanging jerseys too. This social support, especially in team sports, helps an athlete stay grounded.

✅ 3. Humour - Athletes know how to laugh at themself. They can learn from their own mistakes and take things in a light spirit. They are way too familiar with the ups and downs of winning and losing, so they know you can't take things too seriously. This keeps the mind light and free from pressure.

🤨 Events that can trigger Anxiety in Athletes!

🤨 Events that can trigger Anxiety in Athletes! Can you think of any other?

▶ Anxiety is related to feelings of uncertainty and the inability to control the outcomes.

1. Nearing the End of a Career - This is a time of confusion and reflection. A player has to decide to move on from his favourite sport, something that has become their identity. This can lead to self-identity conflict and guilt among other emotions.

2. Playing a Tough Opponent - This is a no-brainer. All athletes face performance pressure at some time. We have talked about this quite a lot before. Playing a tough opponent can lead to self-doubt, stress, and overthinking.

3. Changing Coaches or Academies. A coach and athlete need a strong understanding. Changing the coach leads to having to form a new bond and trust which can be diffifcult and unpredictable based on the circumstances and the social personalities which need to match for the best fit.

4. Injuries cause uncertainty as to when the body would heal, how soon one can resume playing and whether their performance will return. Injuries not only cause physical hurt but also psychological effects that need to be addressed.

5. Balancing Academics and Other Committments with Sports. A lot of athletes are young players still having to complete their education, while others have different balancing acts. Parental support and good time management can help reduce this stress.
